We’ve been searching for a new home the past couple of weeks. We go back and forth on whether we should move. I have to resign to God’s timing. Too many times we want things to happen in our timing. We miss it too often when we get impatient and rush things. I am convinced that we can try to force it or let God bring it to pass. I know what you are thinking, we have to do something for things to happen ultimately, we can’t just sit around on our butts, BUT I would say first we hear His voice in a situation and then we act. Can’t get ahead of Him. His timing is perfect for sure. I have been reading the book of Isaiah and in it we get a glimpse of what God thinks. Here are some verses from Isaiah:
Isaiah 30:21 - Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Isaiah 48:17b - I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 55:8 - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thornbush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the LORD’s renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.”
Sorry, that was a long one, but good one. You know His way is perfect. We all learn one way or another to wait on His timing. Question for us is: What thing are we pushing hard and have not even asked God for His thoughts?
I’ll finish with this one thought from the word:
Isaiah 30:15 - …This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…
Our pastor began a new series today about miracles. It’s been awesome to reflect on the miracle-working power of God and to realize that this is the power that dwells in all of us who have received Jesus as our Savior! I feel like I have been given super-charged faith for this season, as I’m believing for several people in my world to experience their own personal miracles. I know that incredible testimonies are going to come out of this series. Pastor John (or PJ as we affectionately call him) said at the very beginning of his sermon that without miracles, the gospel would be incomplete. He said that if we just think about Jesus, that statement couldn’t possibly be refuted. His entire existence, being born of a virgin and living without sin, was a miracle, not to mention all of the other miracles he performed while on earth. So, our challenge today is to believe that MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN TODAY! I can definitely think of several miracles I’ve witnessed in my own life and in the lives of those around me. God is an amazing God who is gracious enough to make the impossible possible in our lives. How awesome is that?!
Well, in just a few days Eli will officially be 7 months old. I always say this, but it’s definitely true- I can’t believe how fast time has gone by! He is such a happy little guy, flashing me the biggest smile every time I look at him (especially when he’s laying on the floor playing). He has such an easy-going personality. I honestly can say that Mundo and I can’t imagine life without him. He’s a part of us and with him we officially feel like our own little family.
In just a few weeks, Oct. 9, I will attempt to fly alone with him for the second time to visit our family in Houston, TX. (They all just got their power back, a week after Ike did his damage, but their homes are fine.) I’m nervous about the flight, but so excited to see family. The last time Eli and I flew home from Houston, he had the worst poopy diaper he’s ever had and it leaked ALL over him and myself, right when the pilot turned on the seatbelt sign. What an adventure- carrying a screaming baby off an airplane covered in poop while attempting to ignore the comments of the rude people around me. I can’t wait for Eli to see his grandparents. I have to admit that I’ve shed a few tears since he’s been born as I’ve reflected on the fact that both sets of grandparents, as well as his aunts and uncles, live so far away. He’s changed so much in just a few short months. He really is a different baby. Now, they will actually be able to play with him! I wll definitely write a post to fill all of you in on the juicy details of our trip Here are the latest photos.
Man I wish I was this smart. This is a video of Ravi Zacharias answering a question from a university student, “Why should we believe what the Bible says?”. No other book, or set of books have such convincing support and non-conflicting sources as the Bible. It is the book of life. Check out this answer:
Yesterday we drove up to Jackson, TN to visit some pastor friends of ours and we ran into the LSU Women’s Volleyball team. They had a sweet bus. It was awesome. Louisiana is in real bad shape again and man we have been praying for all of our friends down there. All I can say is be strong guys, have that eye of the tiger. God is faithful and will provide all you need. Cool shot of me by the bus huh! Jesus!!!!
