Eli’s 6 month photos

Eli is 6 months old!

Today, our little boy is officially 6 months old. He’s halfway through his first year of life! Time is already flying. I have a feeling that the holidays will only make it go by faster. We took him back to the doctor today. Here are the stats:

Weight: 14 lbs. 10 oz (up from 13 lbs. 10 oz last month)

Height: 24.5 inches (He was 23 inches at 4 months)

His weight and height are in the 5th-10th percentile (which means he’s only bigger than 5% of babies his age) and his head circumferance is in the 50th percentile (yes, he has a big head for his little body- with a big brain :) )! The doctor acknowledged the fact that he is a little guy, but she said she’s not worried at all because he’s definitely growing. He just has his own little growth curve (and he’s my son, so I’m not surprised at all that he is small :) ). It’s never fun to get shots, but after next month he won’t need anymore until he’s a year old, so that’s a relief!

Mundo took some cute pictures. Eli loves the mirror in the exam room. He was so cute to watch and we couldn’t resist photographing him! I will also be posting 6 month pictures soon, so check back often!

life in the “slower” lane

It seems like things have slowed down tremendously over the past few weeks after a busy season of traveling. Now, I find myself making decisions as to how I want to use my time at home. Basically, my goals for everyday are to: spend time with Jesus in the Word and in prayer, exercise to some degree (even if it just means a walk with Eli or my embarassing pilates video that I actually enjoy!), eat well and meet every one of Eli’s and Mundo’s needs that I’m capable of meeting (always a lofty goal…not always practical :) ). I’m enjoying life in the slower lane, as opposed to the fast lane of teaching. God has definitely graced me for this season of life and put a feeling of joy and satisfaction in my heart. To all of the stay-at-home moms out there- be blessed taking care of your little ones and make sure that you take care of yourself! Moms are much more effective that way!

I can’t leave you without posting a few recent pics. Today, I caught him chewing on his toy that was supposed to be suctioned nicely to his high chair (whoever created it underestimated the strength little babies can possess- especially my little boy!) and he gave me the most precious look, as if he were saying, “Oh, man, you caught me! I didn’t do it!”

my new recipe page

Didn’t know if you noticed, but I’ve added a page to our blog called Amanda’s Recipes. I was inspired by Mundo’s friend Krysten Lewelling and my friend Ashley Melton to create a blog where I post recipes that I make throughout the week, along with a picture of my creations. I love to cook and people often ask me for my recipes. So, now you will have an on-going page to look at with all of my favorites. I hope our blog readers will enjoy trying some of them. Let me know if you enjoy any of them!

Eli jumping

We thought you would enjoy Eli working out his little legs. He loves to bounce. Enjoy!
