eli is one month old

Our little boy is one month old! Wow, time sure does fly. Yet, it feels like he’s been with us forever. This past week, Eli had the chance to meet his Yaya and Abuelito (Mundo’s parents). We had a great time together and they thoroughly enjoyed the newest member to the Meneses clan. It’s pretty awesome to think that Eli will carry on the family name. Pretty great to have a boy.

Eli made his first appreance at church today. We stopped by to surprise Daddy. It was a work day, not a service, so only a few friends were able to see him. I thought this would be a nice introduction before the big debut in two weeks. When we were driving away, he let out the cutest “coo” and I said, “Well, I guess you really enjoyed being in church! That was the house of God and you will love spending time there.” Mundo and I believe that all of our children will love building God’s house.

Here are a few shots from our time with the Abuelitos.

eli joshua- 3.5 weeks old

Our little Eli is already 3.5 weeks old! He is growing so much. He already has the cutest, puggy little face and the roundest little belly. I’ve even been able to catch him smiling with my camera. My mom left two days ago, so I’ve been making it on my own for the past two days. I’ve shed a few tears, thinking about how much I will miss not having her here. God’s grace is sufficient. I know that I will eventually have a good routine established and Eli and I will continue to enjoy every minute together here at home.

What a joy it is to be a mom! I’m still getting used to hearing that new title- “Mom.” I don’t feel like a mom, yet. I went to Target (yet again :) and I felt like a kid pushing my baby brother around the store. I keep thinking, “I wonder what people are thinking when they see me with a baby.” I told my dad that I figure they are all thinking, “That poor teenager. I bet she dropped out of high school to have her baby!” I definitely used to get strange looks when I was pregnant. A friend at church mentioned that I probably had a lot of people praying for me that I didn’t know about, because they saw me walking around pregnant and felt sorry for me. Well, whether I look old enough to be a mom or not, I am absolutely one of the most blessed of mothers to be able to care for such a precious little boy.

One of my greatest joys has been to watch Mundo with Eli. He loves to call him his son. He is the most fantastic dad. It’s so cute to see him fall asleep with Eli in the evening, after a long day at work. Eli loves to curl up on his daddy’s chest and snuggle. He has been gracious enough to soothe him back to sleep during his fussy mornings and evenings. I can’t imagine raising a child on my own- what a tremendous task!

Here are a few more pictures of our adorable baby boy.

Our baby boy is growing and growing. Amanda took him to his pediatrician yesterday and he has gained some weight and grown in length. He is almost 7lbs and is about 19.25 inches long. He is starting to get a little belly. Every day we ask ourselves, “Is he really our baby?”. We are so thankful to God for our son. He is amazing! Everything is going great at home. We want to thank all of you who have been an encouragement and sent us notes, gifts, and food. We appreciate all of you.

Here is Eli’s first at bath at home. We shot this last week some time. Enjoy. If you scroll down in the blog you can get video clips from the birth. Love you all.

our precious little boy

What a whirlwind the past week has been for me! Mom and I went to Target today and I told her it felt so strange to think he was only a week old. It already feels like he’s been with us forever. Our lives have changed so much in such a short amount of time. I have been enjoying every minute of life at home with our son. He is such a great baby! He usually only cries when we change his diaper or when he is hungry. He is very content. My mom has been a tremendous blessing to us. I know she is enjoying all of this rare time with her grandson. Eli is my parent’s first grandchild and the first grandchild on her side of the family (number 3 on dad’s side). So, he has changed the position of several people in my family- Uncle Jonathan, Aunt Jessica, Aunt Dana, Papi (my dad), Nana (my mom), Great-Grandmother, Tia Ana and Tio Jairo. It’s amazing how one little life has already changed the world! We have desperately needed to show you some decent pictures. So, here they are. Enjoy!

sweet moments

Having a baby begins a serious of sweet moments that we as parents get to be a part of.  Eli was up all last night, and every time I get up, I thank God that I have someone to get up for.  He is so precious.  He changes by the day and we watch in amazement of this precious gift from God.  God gives us grace for each season of life.  Amanda and I have been graced for sure in this great season.  Amanda’s mom, Paula, has been with us since the day we had Eli.  She is amazing, I don’t know what we would do with out her.  She has definitely been a blessing to the both of us.

home and adjusting

Eli is one week old today! I can’t believe it has been one week already. We are getting adjusted at home with the babe. He is getting on some what of a pattern. Amanda is doing great taking care of him. He is so small and cute. We love him so much. Our heart is very full with so many emotions. It is the best thing in the world being a parent. It has been an adventure every night. Some nights he sleeps good, others he wants to eat every hour or so. He’s such a stud! You have to watch him because when you’re not looking he throws his head back really fast. Keep posted for more pics once we get over the initial shock of having a baby:)
