When you think about Memphis, Elvis comes to mind. This past week, after 4 years of living in Memphis, TN I finally went to Graceland. I got to hang out with my friends Mac and Abby Devall (studs) for the day and decided to take them to the famous graceland. It was pretty slick in its day. Elvis bought the mansion when he was 22 years old. Pretty crazy. It was a very impressive collection of all the things he did in his life time. One thing we walked away with, was a feeling of emptiness. Elvis spent his whole life always searching for something to fill his life, while the whole time he was running from God. His only 3 grammy’s he won were for gospel songs. Ironic, that he had such a big stage in life and he didn’t use it to glorify God, but ended up dying because he tried to fill his life with everything but God. Only God can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human soul and spirit. The king totally missed the King of Kings because he got caught up in other things. Reminds us to focus on what really matters. All in all, graceland was pretty cool. Had to see it since I am a Memphian! Thank you, thank you very much.

It had been a while……but we made it to a LSU game this past Saturday. LSU played Ole Miss in Oxford, Ms. Manda and I drove down to the game with our pastor and some friends. We had a total blast. We had purchased the tickets on Ebay and agreed to meet a friend of the guy who we got the tickets from at the game. The only problem was that there was BADDDDD phone reception at Ole Miss, so it was not looking good to find this guy among 60,000 wild crazy people walking around. All I knew was that he was by the student union near a magnolia tree. Like there aren’t many of those in the south. Believe it or not, I ended up running into the guy 15 minutes before the game. The odds of finding the guy in the midst of the crowd was slim. But since God loves LSU and loves us, He made it happen.
The tickets we got on Ebay were on the 50 yard line, 6 rows up….. AWESOME! We also had 2 other tickets in the section next to all the parents of the LSU players. Matt Blanchard and I sat up there first. We were right behind Hermon Johnson’s mom. Hermon is the biggest baby born in LA to date. He was a beast when he was born (over 15lbs). Everyone that walked by us bowed down to her and wanted to take a picture with her. It was halarious! I have a picture above with her and some crazy lsu fan.
All the Ole Miss fans kept calling us “corndogs”. Don’t know what that is all about, but it some how it doesn’t sound good. Crazy Ole Miss people:) It was a perfect day for a football game.
All in all the game was awesome. Great to see the #1 team in the nation play. Isn’t it funny when you see fans on tv they are always holding up one finger, even when their team is ranked #25. Haters. Sorry to all the Ole Miss fans, but we’re trying to get to the title game. Go tigers!

I am so amazed when I look down at my belly. It is hard to believe that a little life is growing inside of me (until I feel a good strong boy kick!). I’m now 22 weeks along, so I have 18 weeks left! As I was waiting patiently tonight with my hand on my belly, knowing a kick was bound to come any minute, I started thinking about Chris Caine’s book A Life Unleashed. She compares the development and birth of a baby to the birth of your destiny.
The snapshots (ultrasound pictures) reminded us that in five months our world was going to look dramatically different, and our life would be much more exciting. Although there was still a long (and sometimes very painful) road ahead, the picture motivated us to keep pressing on. Envisioning our dream will keep us focused and on track to do whatever it takes to see it realized.
Mundo and I have dreamed of being parents since we were married five years ago. My sisters always used to call me “Mom”, an appropriate title for someone who loves kids! Now, this dream is coming to pass, yet we know that it has only just begun. We now have so many dreams in our hearts for this little boy and envision who we believe he is to become- a man of God who is not ashamed of the gospel and who loves God’s house (along with so many other awesome qualities
). We pray this over him every night, already dedicating him to the Lord and dedicating ourselves as parents. Will you agree with us? I’m sure we’ll need all of your prayers in the months to come!
Church today was amazing! During worship we sang a song in which the chorus was “Lord I’m amazed, by you….how you loved me”. I am amazed how much God loves us and all that He has for us. We received our miracle offering today for all that we are believing God for in 2008 as families and as a church. Our pastor always says that God will do His part in our life, but we must do our part. Today we did our part in resourcing the kingdom of God. Now we wait for Him to do great things. As we are amazed by what God has done, we can’t stop being amazed and expecting God to do more amazing things in our life. When we receive a harvest or blessing in our life it is because of what we sowed in the past. Well today we sowed our best in our miracle offering so that in the days to come we will continue to be amazed at all that God is doing. Amanda and I are believing God for strong children who love God and great things for our future together. We are sowing our lives, our energy, our money, ….all that we are for God. I’m amazed that God allows us to participate in all that He is doing in the world today. Are you amazed?
